Elke Wouters has documented the Belgian market since 2015 and opens an account at every operator with a preference for the maths behind bonuses. Lives and works in Leuven.

How we test. every test starts with a real account, start with a deposit of our own money, pull the money out and time the whole route. Licence status is verified directly with the Gaming Commission and go over the small print word by word. What we could not verify does not appear.

Player protection in numbers

The rules on player protection here run considerably more strictly than a few years ago and you feel it on the first deposit. Each site automatically applies a €200 weekly ceiling. Reducing it needs no waiting time, raising runs through a verification and then a waiting window.

The Gaming Commission keeps one central exclusion register in EPIS: the exclusion applies instantly across the whole licensed landscape. Reversing it is not immediate. Since 1 September 2024 the minimum age is 21 for casino, gaming hall and betting; for the National Lottery 18 remained the rule. Age is verified at registration.
